Prior to your photo session, we will discuss what type of photos you want and how we can best achieve your goals. Sometimes clients come to me with no real request other than photos with their kids or photos with their animals and leave the creative part of the shoot up to me. I am happy to do this and pride myself on being able to style a shoot based on the subjects and locations. I have a lot of experience with this type of shoot and am more than happy to bring the ideas and allow you to just relax and enjoy the process. If you have a specific need for photos or ideas, I can accommodate this too. I am a great collaborator and happy to provide you with whatever you need.
I aim for fun, stress free and natural. On the day of the shoot, we will use natural light and we will shoot at the time of day that makes most sense for the time of year (you'd be surprised how 'seasonal' shadows can be) which in Los Angeles is generally early morning or later in the day. Unless I need a bounce card to fill in light, there won't be a lot of gear, other than my camera (and whatever you want to bring in terms of wardrobe, props - blankets, pillows, outdoor furniture, musical instruments - or toys for animals). I want everyone to be relaxed and happy and this is best achieved in as natural a setting as possible.

In the initial consultation, we plan what type location will best suit you or your pet for your needs. Since I shoot outside, I like to take advantage of the many beautiful areas in Los Angeles but am happy to come to your home or barn. Please keep in mind that the surrounding location can make or break a shot, so we will discuss all of this while planning and creating the 'looks'. If I come to your home or barn, I ask that you be flexible to moving items or creating some light 'staging' to help create that perfect shot. Please note that while I provide editing services, these are simply to enhance the photos - I can't photoshop out those things that distract from the image, so let's plan ahead. You'd be surprised by how much people comment on what can be photoshopped in or out - that's not what I do. I like to create the shot in real time.Description text goes here

By this time we have talked over our core ideas for the shoot (maybe we are creatively winging it a little, I am completely okay with that too because I think on my feet and I trust my eye), you have paid your deposit and we are ready to get to the fun stuff! I will show up a little earlier if there are animals involved, to bond a little and figure out the best approach to working with the animal's personality (sometimes the personality alone takes me on a completely new creative journey and I think of new ideas). We will have discussed wardrobe/props/toys and now we will start planning how to best showcase everyone involved in the shoot. I simply ask that you relax, enjoy and go with the flow. It's a creative process and it's fun!
